Exterior insulation and finish system, also known as EIFS, can provide a more affordable option when a deteriorated chimney needs to be completely rebuilt.

EIFS is a non-load bearing, exterior wall cladding system that consists of an insulation board, a reinforced base coat, and a textured protective finish available in endless color options to accent your home. EIFS, or Dryvit, is a synthetic stucco that mimics traditional stucco. However, EIFS is a better insulator than traditional stucco, and therefore, it is more energy efficient as well.

Proper installation is critical to the performance of EIFS. When installed according to manufacturer’s specifications, homeowners experience little to no maintenance. However, EIFS should never be installed without the appropriate technicians or as a DIY project.
